Brixton Radio live streams directly from Van Gogh House within the context of Dinu Li’s exhibition Back-a-Yard Swag. Theo Thompson talks to Dinu Li about the contextual history behind his exhibition Back-a-Yard Swag, followed by Rebel Clash on the decks from 7.30-9pm, with a 70s and 80s reggae dub set inspired by a personal and historical knowledge of sound system culture. This show takes us on a journey through the shebeens of years past, the contributions of the Jamaican Chinese diaspora to reggae history, and sound system bass lines from the UK to Jamaica.
This show is online only and will live streamed directly from Van Gogh House.
Wednesday 17 September 7–9pm

Patrick Williams [he/him] aka Rebel Clash is a UK based Reggae DJ carving his own lane in the scene by going back to the records of his youth played at home and in Jamaica. His passion for playing vinyl & acetate dub plates comes from his appreciation for sound-system culture. Early influences growing up around his uncle’s legendary Sound System include Papa Michigan & Amp and General Smiley, the infamous Studio One label and productions from Bob Marley’s Tuff Gong Imprint. Rebel Clash plays regularly at a wide spectrum of shows in UK clubs, from warehouse student events like ‘Worried About Henry’ to specialist Reggae shows supporting Sir David Rodigan. Hosting his own weekly show on Rinse FM, serving up some of the finest reggae cuts from his extensive collection, he has maintained and grown his reputation as an excellent selector.
