An evening of short films by London based filmmakers that tackle the raw, complicated reality of trying to make amends with those we love. This event is curated by Ché Scott-Heron Newton and leads with her film, Murewa, a tender look at friendship, time, and divergence. Followed by a Q&A with the filmmakers involved and a live DJ set.

A coming-of-age documentary spanning years of footage, capturing a friendship pulled apart by circumstance. By Ché Scott-Heron Newton.
Welcome Home Freckles (26m):
A fierce, intimate story about returning to the people who hurt you, and the cost of trying to heal. By Huiju Park.
A Move (27m):
Against the backdrop of the Women, Life, Freedom protest movement in Iran, filmmaker Elahe Esmaili is helping her parents to pack up the family home in this short documentary.
Milk (27m):
One filmmaker sets out on a journey to discover the mother she never knew, but like the act of filmmaking itself, it is a journey that will never feel complete. By Miranda Stern.

Ché Scott-Heron Newton [she/her] is a multi-award-winning documentary filmmaker whose debut short premiered at the SXSW 2025 Film & TV Festival. Her work explores race, class, and masculinity through intimate personal archives, crafting deeply human stories with sensitivity and depth. She is passionate about pushing the boundaries of documentary form and experimenting with structure and storytelling to create bold, immersive cinema.
